Aims & Objectives

Educational Outcome

 

Ayan De First is offering to work within the educational sectors with a view to promoting multi-cultural values, community cohesion and inclusion through the Arts of Africa.

 

Programs offered

  • Music and dance

  • Story telling/drama,

  • African Contemporary painting.

  • Cookery.

  • Poems and Poetry

  • Hair Plaiting.

  • Batik (Tie-Dye).

  • Ceramics.

  • Performances.

  • Making of musical Instruments.

  • Sales of African arts and crafts. 

Ayan De First works comfortably with people with special needs, and can handle all ages from two years upwards, and works at old people’s centres,

providing costumes and drums for all the participants as well as getting them involved in all the activities.

 

The type of services offered are rare in Europe and the reference letters and evaluation forms from schools worked with attest to the need of Ayan's services.

Having said this, Ayan and the Oduduwa Talking drummers have worked in more than 500 community and private schools within the U.K.

Aims & Objectives

  • To promote African arts and culture.

  • To educate people about the true image of Africa

  • To promote community cohesion, multi-cultural values and inclusion through Arts of Africa.

  • To provide traditional teaching methods for under-achieving children in schools, and opportunities for those children to learn kinaesthetically, orally and physically.

  • To encourage people to spend their leisure time learning about  African arts and culture, especially the elderly.

  • To provide background information to help develop creative skills by relying on the imagination and emotions

  • To provide a need for support in exploring avenues across cultures.

  • To work with adults and children to help integrate them into society as well-informed citizens.

Educational Outcome

  • Increased knowledge of Africa and its traditional and contemporary cultures.

  •  Improved & increase awareness of different cultures and ethnic communities.

  •  Improved skills in music, drama and the visual arts.

  •  Improved speaking and listening through story telling, drama and singing.

  •  Increased respect from teachers and other students for children who come from oral story-telling cultures.

  • Improved motivation especially those children who learn visually aurally and kinaesthetically.

  • Recognition of students’ communication skills that are not recognised in day-to-day activities.

  • Improved family values through knowing about family traditions in Africa.
